Your cut roses should last at least 5 to 7 days and perhaps longer. Follow these tips to keep them fresh and going strong:
- Fill a clean vase with lukewarm water for your roses.
- Cut the end of each rose on a 45-degree angle to allow the stem to take in more water. Pruning sheers are perfect for this job.
- Remove any leaves that are not above the top of the vase to ensure the water stays clean and free of bacteria.
- Every other day change the water in the vase, recut the stems and remove any dead leaves.
- You can go the extra step and feed your roses using either store bought flower food or homemade flower food. Here is one widely used DYI recipe: 4 cups water, 2 tablespoons sugar, 2 tablespoons white vinegar.
